It sounds like a great afternoon to be out on the pier. You’ve arrived at a prime time—the tide is currently rising, and you're approaching the sunset "golden hour." Current Conditions: Port Melbourne VIC The weather in Port Melbourne VIC is currently 17°C and partly sunny. Winds are light at 6 mph coming from the southeast, with 0% chance of rain for the remainder of the afternoon. Tides & Timing Current Status: The tide is flooding (rising). It turned at the 3:30 PM low (0.40m) and is heading toward a 10:11 PM high tide (0.94m). Sunset: Expect the sun to go down at 5:33 PM. The 30 minutes before and after sunset are often the most productive for a bite. What’s Biting & Tactical Tips Recent reports indicate that Port Phillip Bay has been very active this May. Day One of 30-Day Fishing Challenge: Gemini's Recommendations

Current Conditions Weather: It is currently around 16°C and mostly sunny. Winds are mild at about 10–12 km/h pushing in from the south/south-east. Tides: You are fishing the incoming tide, which is fantastic. The tide bottomed out at 2:50 PM, and water is actively pushing in towards a high tide of 0.94m at 9:34 PM tonight. Timing: The rising tide combined with the dropping light heading into dusk means you are perfectly positioned for the "golden hour" of fishing in the bay. How to Best Catch Fish Today Target Species: The incoming tide running into dusk makes it prime time for Bream, Pinky Snapper, and Flathead. You might also encounter some King George whiting, or find squid if you cast around the sand patches and weed beds. Bait Options: Small, fresh baits are key. Medium-small pilchards (cut into small chunks) or squid strips are reliable. Fresh yabbies or bloodworms are excellent for whiting and bream. If you are ever caught short, small pieces of raw chicken can act as...

Prompt Gemini for Env Conditions

I use AI everyday. I asked gai what for prompt to determine how I should fish with the present environment condition. Here's the response: To shift from "luck" to "skill," you need to turn your phone into a digital scout. When you are standing on a pier in Port Melbourne or by the Yarra, you don't just want a weather report; you want an **environmental analysis**. Here is a toolkit of prompts designed to help you identify and exploit the conditions in real-time. ### 1. The "Immediate Environment" Prompt (Voice/Live) If you are using **Gemini Live** or voice mode, use this prompt as soon as you arrive. It forces the AI to cross-reference multiple data points. > "I am at [Specific Location, e.g., Docklands Central Pier]. Search for the current tide stage, barometric pressure trend for the last 3 hours, and water temperature. Based on this, where should I focus my casts—the deep channel or the shallow structure—and what is the likely feeding ...

Fishing Reel Upgrades

Image
If i'm not careful, fishing is going to be expensive. When possible, i get myself the best gear i can afford. At the moment, that $120 reel is a bit too much, but i went ahead with it anyway. The first reel and rod i bought was cheap. I wanted to see if i'd enjoy doing this and going full-time on fishing. And i did. The first thing i returned was the rod. It was a telescoping rod that was about 1.5 meters long. I bought it because it fit in my bag when i'm out doing runs.  I found me a shakespeare 7-foot rod for $2 on fb marketplace. It took me two hours to pakenham to get the rod, then another two hours to get home. Good thing public transport is free. I was able to bring my bike and rode the last 2km to the seller's house. After getting the rod, i was ok with the diwa fishing reel for a while. But then it broke. Somehow the crank arm got loose and fell into the river. It's a good thing that it was still returnable. Soon as i got the refund, i bought the upgrade. ...

Earnings Potential vs What I Do Now

Image
Deducting personal expense and all that, let's just say this comes to about $30 per hour. On a good day, I can make this much doing runs on the app. It's not just the hourly rate that I am considering. I also look at the opportunity that you won't find sitting in an office taking customer calls. When doing runs, I can shoot video. I can go fishing when I find a good spot. I can take time off whenever I need to. I get to meet and talk to people. You won't find this with office work like the one above. On average, I make about $10 to $15 per hour. It isn't much. This is enough to cover my rent and food. I don't have much left after that. What helps though is what I make on my channel. It's about $200 per month and growing. This is the long-term cash flow that I am cultivating. Growing the channel is my main job and business.  When I'm not getting enough runs on the app, I shoot video. When I find a good spot, scene or situation while doing runs, I shoot ...

Fishing-Mode is On

Image
I got my fishing license last night -- I'm good to go. We have tennis this morning, that means I'll do my runs from 4:30pm till I hit my target $100. After that, I'll go to my fishing spot and see how it works out. I also ordered some bait, hooks and accessories off aliexpress. It's $9 total. The similar item I had on my amazon shopping cart was about $29. That's huge savings for me. The only trade-off is that the package arrives two weeks from today.  I will have to make do with what I have atm, take it as far as it will go, do my best, learn with the experience. I checked out the fishing going on in docklands yesterday. There were these two guys with plenty baits with them. I saw a pack of chicken from woolies. One of the guys said it was his first time fishing. He did seem not to know what he was doing. The other man was talking to two other guys on that same dock. They seem to be catching fish and maybe asked for some pointers. I'm not sure how this will t...

Fishing Equipment Ordered Today

Image
I ordered me some fishing gear today. It's not top of the line. It's mostly what's within budget and recommended by the algorithm. These arrive tomorrow.  I may need a fishing license. I'll get those next week. I can do one hour of fishing after my ubereats runs. That would be around 8pm. I'd get home late, maybe before midnight. I'm ok with that. With such a schedule, I can do ubereats during the afternoons, then head straight to fishing.  I have two power banks on me. I think these are enough to recharge the action cam and the mobile phones. What about dinner? i can skip dinner if I have enough water. I'd break fast the next day. If tennis in the morning, I'd most likely break fast the next day. Interesting times ahead. I'd give it a year to get more resources, but at least I've taken steps given the instruction manual. And I am having positive reflection on this.  Let's see how it goes.
